As Henry VIII moved to take over the property of the church, his assessors under Cromwell compiled an inventory of the income of each church and parish across England in one of the most complete surveys since the Domesday. The entry for Somersham below shows a prosperous church providing a good living for the local priest.

In the deaconry of St Ives in the County of Huntingdon and the Diocese of Lincoln:
Somersham with Colne and Pidley, William Fyerley the rector of the same place.
The healthy prosperity of this place is such that major tithes of the rectory/lodging and years crops from the glebe land (amount to)

As an annual stipend for celebrating at the two chapels of Colne and Pidley that are held by the rector:
