The task of identifying rare and ancient documents relating to the history of Somersham has proved a long and drawn out exercise. Already we have spent some 6 years on the task. Once we identify relevant documents they  must often be transcribed and translated. To date we have managed to complete the transcription of all the documents that have been identified and transferred them into electronic format.

However we are still on the look out for new documents. Do you know of a document relating to the village in the period up to 1900 that is not on our site?

If you have your own document that you would be willing to lend to us for transcription then please contact us. All documents will be treated with appropriate care and we are quite willing to arrange a visit so a doument is not taken out of your sight!

The only thing we cannot accept is a transcription/translation of a document where we have not had sight of the original.
