The vicars of Somersham include an impressive array of church leaders with two cardinals and an Archbishop of Canterbury amongst them! From the time of James I the income and title of vicar went to the Regius Professor of Divinity at Cambridge. However the day to day duty of administering to the flock would have been carried out by a paid clerk.
